Public Relations Internship

Seeking those who are upper level undergraduates or those who have already attained their undergraduate degree.

To provide undergraduates and recent graduates an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the theatre industry.

Overview

Hennepin Theatre Trust, owner of the historic State, Orpheum and Pantages Theatres, is a non-profit organization devoted to enriching the vibrant cultural atmosphere of the Twin Cities. The Trust’s programs include Broadway touring productions, the SpotLight Musical Theatre Program for high schools, Critical View student reviewer program, Teen Ushers, the Access Program and Kids’ Night.

Internships are available throughout the year and typically run anywhere from six to 12 weeks. There are occasional openings for shorter or longer periods than this, depending on the needs of each department. Interns will work with the staff, observing practical applications of skills required in specific areas and applying those skills to assigned projects. Every effort will be made to make internships a valuable educational experience. However, interns will also be expected to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.

The internship is an unpaid position. Complimentary tickets to a variety of Broadway shows, music, dance and variety entertainment will be made available to interns whenever possible.

Time Commitment
10 to 12 hours per week. Duration of internship depends on the project.

Necessary Skills
High level communication skills that include writing, verbal communication, research, online expertise and possible database entry.

What to Expect
The intern will be responsible for compiling press kits, online calendar postings of events, press list research and other tasks as appropriate or necessary. The intern will gain entry level public relations expertise.
