Karen Nelson

Karen Nelson is an arts specialist and journalist/public relations professional who joined Hennepin Theatre Trust in 2007 after eight years in Los Angeles where she worked in communications at the J. Paul Getty Trust and at UCLA Live performing arts. Nelson was previously employed at the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C., and in the Twin Cities, at the Walker Art Center, Zenon Dance, The Playwrights Center, American Composers Forum and Arts Midwest. Nelson earned a journalism degree from the University of Minnesota, has published freelance articles and music reviews and is a classically trained musician. She lived and studied in Spain and Brazil, speaks Spanish and Portuguese, enjoys travel, visual arts, dancing, reading, bike riding and rollerblading.
