Hennepin Theatre Trust connects the Twin Cities’ community through educational and community engagement initiatives that enrich our lives and encourage artists and audiences for the future. The Trust’s multi-faceted programs include the SpotLight Musical Theatre Program which honors students who excel in high school musical theatre, Critical View which teaches students arts criticism and the Access Program which opens the doors of our historic theatres to a wider range of people. I have found our participation in the Spotlight program to be beneficial on two levels. As a director, I get the chance for artistic growth by having three other sets of eyes and ears evaluate my shows. Additionally, the students, parents and community appreciate the chance for our students to be honored and recognized beyond the walls of our theater and school.
