Utility Art Box Project

Hennepin Theatre Trust and the City of Minneapolis jointly launched the Utility Art Box Project by requesting applications and selectively hiring local artists to transform 24 non-descript metal utility boxes along Hennepin Avenue between Spruce Place and Washington Avenue into colorful works of art. By interpreting the famous speech on the Seven Ages of Man from Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,” these utility boxes have become decorative contributors to the urban streetscape.
