Education & Community Engagement Internship

To provide undergraduates and recent graduates an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the theatre industry.
Overview
Hennepin Theatre Trust, owner of the historic State, Orpheum and Pantages Theatres, is a non-profit organization devoted to enriching the vibrant cultural atmosphere of the Twin Cities. The Trust’s programs include Broadway touring productions, the SpotLight Musical Theatre Program for high schools, Critical View student reviewer program, Teen Ushers, the Access Program and Kids’ Night.
Internships are available throughout the year and typically run anywhere from six to 12 weeks. There are occasional openings for shorter or longer periods than this, depending on the needs of each department. Interns will work with the staff, observing practical applications of skills required in specific areas and applying those skills to assigned projects. Every effort will be made to make internships a valuable educational experience. However, interns will also be expected to perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.
The internship is an unpaid position. Complimentary tickets to a variety of Broadway shows, music, dance and variety entertainment will be made available to interns whenever possible.
Time Commitment
10 to 15 hours per week. The duration of the internship will vary depending on the project.
Necessary Skills
The intern should have an interest in theatre education and community outreach. The intern should be able to initiate and follow through on projects. General knowledge of theatre and the educational process are preferred. Adaptability and creative-problem solving skills are essential, and the intern should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
What to Expect
The education and community engagement intern will work on a variety of projects and special assignments in non-profit education and community programming. These may include the SpotLight Musical Theatre Program, Critical View, theatre tours and the Access Program.
