Buddy Guy, the Grammy Award-winning blues guitarist from Chicago known for his boundless guitar talents and passionate vocals, will be accompanied at the State Theatre by pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph and his rock soul group The Family Band.
George "Buddy" Guy left his hometown in Louisiana in 1957 to pursue his dream of playing the blues. He went to Chicago, joining a band lead by famed blues musician Muddy Waters. He became a pioneer of the Chicago blues movement, crafting a unique sound and developing an impressive stage presence. Guy’s famous hits include "Damn Right," "I’ve Got The Blues," "Feels Like Rain"and "Slippin’ In." Arguably one of the greatest blues musicians of all time, Buddy Guy continues to captivate audiences around the country. Last year he released Rhythm & Blues, a two disc album featuring other famous musicians such as Kid Rock and Keith Urban.
Robert Randolph and The Family Band is a funk, blues/rock and soul band from New Jersey. Founded in 2006 the band has had an impressive amount of guest appearances on albums, including Ringo Starr’s Choose Love and Elton John and Leon Russell’s The Union.
The two musicians have collaborated in the past on two of Guy’s albums; Bring ‘Em In in 2005 and Skin Deep in 2008. Skin Deep debuted at number one on the Blues Albums chart and remained at the top for three weeks. This fall they bring their talents back to the Midwest for a show that is sure to impress and inspire.
