Chris Isaak is the platinum-selling and Grammy nominated singer/songwriter, feature film actor and former host of his own Showtime series. With more than a dozen albums released over an almost 30 year career and known for his chart-topping single "Wicked Game," Isaak will be performing from his 2011 CD "Beyond the Sun" as well as holiday classics and songs from his repertoire. His national PBS special, "Chris Isaak Live! Beyond the Sun," aired locally on Twin Cities Public Television in June. Chris Isaak's latest offering, "Beyond the Sun," (Vanguard Records) pays tribute to the glory days of legendary producer Sam Phillips and Sun Studio in Memphis. It includes renditions of classics from "Great Balls of Fire" to "I Walk the Line" as well as new, self-penned tunes. Originally from California, Isaak began performing after college with the band Silvertone and released a self-titled album in 1986. When the single "Wicked Game," from his third album "Heart Shaped World," was featured in David Lynch's 1990 movie "Wild at Heart," it reached the Top Ten on the Billboard charts. Another significant hit, "Somebody's Crying," from 1995's "Forever Blue," resulted in both the single and album being nominated for Grammy Awards. He released a greatest hits album ("Best of Chris Isaak") in 2006. Isaak has also appeared in several hit feature films, including "The Silence of the Lambs" and "That Thing You Do." From 2001 to 2004, he starred in nearly 50 original episodes of the musical comedy series "The Chris Isaak Show" on Showtime. He also interviewed musical artists such as Stevie Nicks and Michael Bublé in 2009 for his one hour talk show "The Chris Isaak Hour" on the Biography Channel. |
