With their famous intricate vocal harmonies and lyrics that have explored socially relevant issues for more than three decades, David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash have produced six top ten albums chronicling the tumultuous counterculture era. CSN, often called "the voice of an entire generation," formed in Los Angeles in 1968, each member coming from another influential act: David Crosby from The Byrds, Stephen Stills from Buffalo Springfield, and Graham Nash from The Hollies. Occasional fourth member Neil Young joined for various albums and tours while still maintaining a solo career. Their self-titled 1969 debut album–with classics "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," "Marrakesh Express" and "Guinnevere"–was an instant masterpiece that earned them Best New Artist Grammy Award and now ranks as #259 on Rolling Stone’s list of the "500 Greatest Albums Of All Time." The players accompanying this storied trio on their 2012 tour are Todd Caldwell (organ), Shane Fontayne (guitar), Steve DiStanislao (drums), Kevin McCormick (bass), and James Raymond (keyboards). Upon their 1997 induction, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame noted, "Crosby, Stills and Nash have remained America’s longest-running experiment in vocal harmony and social relevance." They have also been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, with the honor recognizing both CSN as a group and each member as individual solo artists.
