Gipsy Kings - Volare Live @ Kenwood House, London 2004
The musicians of Gipsy Kings are Gitanos, mostly from Montpelier and Arles, France, where their parents had settled to escape the Spanish Civil War. They got their start playing weddings, festivals and in the streets. In 1987, the Gipsy Kings self-titled debut album introduced the world to "Rumba Gitano," the sound of South America’s rumba rhythm married to flamenco guitars, and with "Bamboleo" and "Volare" the Gipsy Kings scored huge international hits. The album appeared on the top ten album charts in 12 European countries and spent 40 weeks on the U.S. charts, becoming one of the few Spanish language albums to do so.
Throughout the '90s, their impassioned performances endeared them to the global mainstream, led to a greatest hits album in 1994 and "The Best of the Gipsy Kings" in 1995. More recently, their music has been featured in Zorro the Musical and movies including "The Big Lebowski" and a Spanish version of "You’ve Got a Friend in Me" in "Toy Story 3." They also performed on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" in May 2010.
A limited number of Gold Circle tickets are available for $104.00.
