The Irish dancing phenomenon Lord of the Dance created by Michael Flatley bursts back into Minneapolis for one performance only at the State Theatre. Called "a show piece extravaganza" by the Los Angeles Times, this Celtic-inspired spectacular has been seen by more than 60 million people from 68 countries and is the world’s highest grossing Irish dance show. The always compelling show features new costumes, a visually stimulating set with an LED wall and state-of-the-art lighting and set designs. Lord of the Dance is the brainchild of Michael Flatley, who created, choreographed, produced and directed it. "Irish dance lovers and music fans alike will experience the engaging, rhythmic adventures that has helped catapult Celtic dance mania and Irish dancing into the global spotlight," says Flatley, who no longer tours with the production but oversees all aspects as Artistic Director. This mesmerizing experience features more than 40 Irish step dancers known for their lightning fast rapid leg movements and stationary body and arms. The show draws from Irish myth as the Lord of Darkness challenges the ethereal Lord of the Dance. Described by the New York Post as "fascinating, rewarding and, above all, entertaining," Lord of the Dance is a hypnotizing celebration of traditional and modern music and dance, played out on a grand scale against a backdrop of Celtic rhythm. |
