Talk-It Hennepin is a free, four-part series of public conversations and workshops bringing together today’s foremost thinkers and professionals in city planning and urban design with Hennepin Avenue stakeholders.
Talk-It Hennepin: Owning Public Space—The Power of Place IdentityThursday, June 7, 7:00 – 9:00pm The last compelling conversation in the Talk-It Hennepin series will explore creating and managing a shared, multi-ethnic urban space on Hennepin Avenue. Three fascinating speakers will bring broad experience and ideas to the table. Cultural geographer and MacArthur Fellowship recipient Don Mitchell will apply his thinking about contested urban spaces; Chancee Martorell, founder and director of Thai Community Development Center and East Hollywood's Thai Town, will share her street-wise work within that multi-cultural space; and nationally-recognized, Saint Paul-based artist Seitu Jones will weave together theory and practice from his work in multiple cities.
