Downtown 2025

Downtown 2025 is a consortium of Minneapolis business leaders, city staff and elected officials formed in 2010 to envision and plan what the area should become during the next 15 years. The group was originally formed in 1996 as Downtown 2010 and included such projects as a new Minnesota Twins ballpark and Central Library, a light rail line along Hiawatha Avenue and the development of the Downtown Improvement District. All are realities today so new committees were formed to focus on areas including transportation, sports, marketing and green infrastructure. Led by the Downtown Council, visioning efforts range from a new park north of the Central Library and riverfront enhancements to ideas about residential and retail growth.
