Grammy-Winning Saxophonist Kenny G
Plays the State Theatre, Sunday, Dec. 6

MINNEAPOLIS—Kenny G, the Grammy Award-winning saxophonist with over 75 million albums sold worldwide, brings his holiday show to Hennepin Theatre Trust’s State Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009. His sixth album, “Breathless,” became the biggest selling instrumental record in U.S. history and featured the phenomenally popular single “Forever in Love,” which won the smooth jazz composer and songwriter a 1994 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition. “Rhythm and Romance,” his first venture into the world of Latin Jazz, was released in 2008 on the Concord Records label. Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. Visit www.HennepinTheatreTrust.org or call 1-800-982-2787 for tickets or more information.

Originally from Seattle, Kenny G first gained notoriety as a sideman for Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra and released his first album (“Kenny G”) in 1982 on the Arista Records label. In 1988, he became a household name after performing a single from his fourth album (“Duotones”) on The Tonight Show and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole and Frank Sinatra. Kenny G also earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1997 for playing the longest note ever recorded on a saxophone, an E-flat held for over 45 minutes. Known mainly for his talent with the soprano saxophone, he also plays alto and tenor saxophone and flute. He travels to Minneapolis to perform a special concert to kick off the holidays as part of a multi-city tour.
