Wicked Single Tickets Go On Sale at Special 5 p.m. “Happy Hour” Event, Monday, May 24, at State Theatre

MINNEAPOLIS—Hennepin Theatre Trust will host a special Wicked “Happy Hour” On Sale Event starting at 5 p.m., Monday, May 24 to launch sales of individual tickets to Broadway’s biggest blockbuster about the witches of Oz, which opens August 11 for a six week Minneapolis run. At 5 p.m. tickets will be sold at the State Theatre Box Office only with activities in the outer lobby including an appearance from 4-6 p.m. by a KS95 Radio Morning Show personality, passed appetizers and happy hour specials provided by the Trust’s local restaurant partners such as Palomino. On the following day beginning at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 25, tickets will also be available online at HennepinTheatreTrust.org, at Ticketmaster.com/Wicked or by calling 1.800.982.2787.
Wicked makes its much-anticipated return to the Trust’s Orpheum Theatre in downtown Minneapolis, running for six weeks from Wednesday, August 11 through Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010. Wicked broke box office records and sold out two Minneapolis runs in record time during 2006 and 2008. This Wicked on sale event marks the first time 2010 single tickets will be available to the general public. Trust Donors and season ticket holders have received advance purchase opportunities. Groups of 20 or more are also still eligible for discounts and can speak to a Group Sales representative in person on May 24 or may call 612.373.5665 for information and reservations.
Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is the winner of 35 major awards, including a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One–born with emerald green skin–is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
