WHAT: Media cameras and reporters are invited to an advance press/photo opportunity at the State Theatre in Minneapolis held as part of a preview event and exclusive reception showcasing two of the leading actors currently performing in Broadway’s Billy Elliot The Musical. The evening includes a dance highlight, a video preview of show, commentary and Q & A with the actors.
Hennepin Theatre Trust is presenting the Minnesota debut of Billy Elliot at the Orpheum Theatre December 16, 2010 to January 9, 2011 as part of the 2010/11 Broadway Season. Winning ten 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Billy Elliot is the joyous celebration of one young boy's journey to make his dreams come true. With its award-winning creative team and music by Elton John, the story is brought to life by a cast of 45, including 20 children. Set in a small town, the story follows Billy as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class to discover a surprising passion that inspires his family and his whole community.
WHO: Michael Dameski (who plays Billy Elliot) will be featured in a brief dance performance. Gregory Jbara (Billy’s father), who earned the 2009 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role, will talk about his experiences as part of the cast, the father-son relationship in the musical and audience reaction.
