Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women™–Back by Popular Demand Starting Jan. 18 at the New Century Theatre

MINNEAPOLIS–Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women™, the original hit comedy celebrating the honor, truth, humor and silliness of being female, returns to Minneapolis by popular demand Wednesday, Jan. 18 to Sunday, March 18, 2012. The run will be held at Hennepin Theatre Trust’s New Century Theatre, the new 250 seat intimate performance space at 615 Hennepin Avenue in City Center Downtown Minneapolis. With a two-woman local cast, Girls Only mixes sketch comedy, improvisation, audience participation, video and raucous songs in a unique examination of all things girly. Starring Twin Cities’ actors Nicole Fenstad and Melanie Wehrmacher, Girls Only was created by Barbara Gehring and Linda Klein, two accomplished Denver actors who adapted the earnest and sweetly absurd writings they discovered in their girlhood diaries. The show has since been enjoyed by almost 150,000 women nationwide including an earlier 2011 Minneapolis run.

Nicole Fenstad and Melanie Wehrmacher will reprise their roles in the popular production. Fenstad can be seen on Twin Cities’ stages including The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres and the Pantages Theatre. In addition, Fenstad is active in an a cappella group called Chick Cheer and founder of a children’s entertainment company called Princess Party Pals. Wehrmacher has performed locally at venues including the Red Eye Theatre and History Theatre and also in New York in productions such as Over the Moon at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. Her original solo play Trip at the Provincetown Playhouse won the Jig Cook Playwriting Award.

Performance times for Girls Only: The Secret Comedy of Women™ are Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hennepin Theatre Trust’s New Century Theatre (615 Hennepin Avenue, Mpls., 55403). The show runs Wednesday, Jan. 18 to Sunday, March 18, 2012. General admission tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011. Prices are $30 for adults, $26 for seniors and $20 for students with valid i.d. All prices include applicable facility fees. Additional charges may apply.
